something tragic

Something tragic happened yesterday.  I ran out of coffee in my dorm room.  This means that until I make it to Walmart to buy some more I will be surviving on cups acquired elsewhere… luckily Scooters has fantastic coffee but I have to remember to leave early for classes in order to get it.  How did I even get hooked on coffee again?  Last semester I had finally made the transition to tea.  I made that one step to a healthier me!  Then my golf workouts and early mornings got to me again… and here I am.  Out of coffee because I drank it all.

It’s midterm week and the whole campus is feeling it.  I have three major midterms within the next week, two of which are for sure essay exams.  and all my notes are on my computer which pretty much crashed last night and my daddy was working on it for hours.  I didn’t lose the notes but I lost several hours of study time.  Yes, it’s stressful, but I just have to remind myself that I’m here to learn and get a degree, and this is just part of that job.  The major problem I’m having isn’t that I’m so worried about the tests: it’s that I’m having trouble finding the time to study for them.  Classes, work, golf practice, and volunteering commitments don’t take a break for me to study for midterms.

Last week was Cardinal Newman Week.  There were all sorts of fun events on campus in honor of our namesake.  On Wednesday I went to High Tea with my teammates from England.  I learned a lot about foreign culture!  They said that Newman actually did quite well in representing their cultural norm and the food was delicious.  On Saturday night I volunteered for the Cardinal Newman Dinner and witnessed some truly amazing alumni receive awards for everything they’ve accomplished.

This week is crazy but I will get through! Some events:

Friday night, 7 pm, Dugan: Sloppy Joe Improv Show. $2 entry

Saturday, 9am: NU DAY!

okay it’s a really good thing this program is smart and saves drafts for me as I go.  because my computer just decided to randomly restart itself before this had been published.  guess maybe it’s not fixed…

Thanks for the memories! When I worked on the Vantage in the 1980’s, one of my editors swore she couldn’t operate a typewriter without a cup of coffee. As for computer problems, I empathise! Believe me!
