Been a little busy this year with a lot going on. I just started a new job here in Wichita at the Wichita Swim Club! For some reason I just can’t give up my love for teaching swimming and playing with little kids! They make any day better! I’ve done quite a bit of shopping as well…even though I don’t need any new clothes! And I’ve been going to the gym EVERYDAY! Can you believe that?? Stephanie and I have actually been really good about working out and trying to get back in shape…it helps when you have a free gym membership here at Newman. Now if only the gym would stay open a little later so I wouldn’t feel like I had to rush through some homework or stay up late to finish it. I tend to want to go to sleep right after my workouts, just pass out on the floor with a pillow.
I think the thing that has actually taken up most of my time is the homework this year. There has been a lot of reading so far and it’s very difficult to stay on top of it. I think it might be because instead of reading I’d rather write my story for Creative Writing, especially since my story is being workshopped next week!! A very scary thought, one I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with. I have to sit and have my story picked apart, and I’m not able to say anything or defend it, I just have to sit there quietly and take the criticism. I guess it’s a good tool to learn though. I definitely know I’m in the right major here at Newman because as fun as my science class is here, science is definitely not my strong point. In fact, today’s discussion during British Literature showed me how much fun it is to be an English Major! We were discussing “The Wife of Bathe” from The Canterbury Tales and it got into a heated discussion with lots of laughter. Definitely the area I enjoy and am glad I chose to study here at Newman. The professors are always helpful and encouraging of all ideas. And it’s not just the English professors. I don’t know how many professors I have passed during all of my tours lately (there have been quite a few) and all of them have been super friendly. I’ve passed a lot of science professors and nursing professors and they know you because they’ve seen you around…IT’S AWESOME!
I feel like I should know the baseball team a little better because all my tours seem to be to potential baseball players! They’re all really cool too!
I find it a little funny that my blogs never seem to find a strict outline…what can I say I like to ramble. That must be the english major in me coming out though. I must say that even though I’m scared to listen to critiques of my story I”m excited because Creative Writing is my favorite class so far. It’s also the class that has showed me just how twisted my mind is. Well hope I updated y’all on the joys of being an English major here at Newman, but I’m about to go return to writing my twisted story.
Keep calm and stay busy y’all
