Technology hates me. No, it really does. I don’t understand it, but I have more technological problems than anyone else I know. It’s not that I don’t know how to use the technology: generally, I do. I grew up in a tech savvy house and although Raymond makes fun of me for not knowing computers like he does, I actually know a lot. I can effectively navigate Windows 7 and haven’t even complained about the new facebook. I’ve set up three different Blackberry phones (because I’ve had to replace mine that many times) and love using my tablet to take notes in class. But for some reason unknown to me, technology refuses to cooperate with my pleas. My computer throws fits on a regular basis, my phone decides to randomly freeze up, and this morning the Newman Blog site wouldn’t load so I can post this. So, I decided to type up my blog in a Microsoft Word document and save it for later when the blog site was working. What happens? I try and save the post and my computer deletes it instead. Maybe I’m cursed.

Anyway, it’s now snowing in Texas where we have our first golf tournament next week. We thought we were going to get a reprieve from this cold Kansas weather but apparently not. There’s been snow on the ground for a solid three weeks. Somehow, my coach has still seen to it that we practice the same amount of time. On Monday I actually spent 45 minutes taking pictures of the campus covered in a beautiful snow… at seven am after workout. Completely untouched and perfect. But all the snow is still here… needless to say, the team is ready for some warm sunshine and green grass. Just maybe not the March winds?

A couple of days ago I had the chance to take a fantastic field trip with my Mass Communications class! (On a side note… I said those words to my friends from abroad and they laughed at me and said “How American!” Apparently “school outing” is more appropriate terminology when you are in England.) We went to IMG corporations downtown and learned so much about the future of advertising! There’s so much potential in technology and yet it refuses to cooperate. And yet, this frustrated girl is considering an IT minor to go with her Communications major. Yes, she is a little bit crazy.

We’ve had all sorts of fun Campus Activity events this week focused on Valentine’s Day! Yesterday we had the opportunity to stuff teddy bears and today there is a booth set up to make Valentine Cards. Still, I heard an interesting article on the news this morning. Apparently nine out of ten women would much prefer a simple night and some time spent with her guy than any expensive gift or date. So breathe a sigh of relief fellas–no need to spend lots of money this weekend, which will be here soon! I’m looking forward to Saturday morning when I can sleep in and forget about my usual 5:40 AM alarm. Tomorrow night I am attending a concert for the Wichita Community Children’s Choir at Friends University. I highly suggest going, I believe it starts at 7:30 in the Riney Fine Arts Center. It’s a benefit concert, so entrance is free but they are taking donations.

Have a wonderful week! Maybe some sunshine?

Hello everyone who reads this! How are you today??? Great and not freezing like me I hope:) So I decided to write about my awesomely, fandanderful, crazy fun weekend!

So it started off when I drove home to Tulsa Friday night and saw A Christmas Carol in 3D at IMAX and all I can say is WOW!!! It was AWESOME, a great way to start off the christmas season, I recommend it to everyone! On Saturday I went to my little brothers basketball game and worked. It was my first day at my seasonal winter break job at GUESS Watches in the mall and it was interesting, I didn’t sell any watches that day but had fun people watching and showing off cool watches:P My friends came over after I got off work and we had a blast doing things that best friends do:P I had to drive back early Sunday morning for the christmas concert that I was in.

Now that seems like alot of stuff right there doesn’t it? But thats just half the fun of my weekend! Sunday night AFTER the concert is where alot of the fandanderful events happened. It started with a Tacky Sweater Party in Beata Hall, about 20-25 people came dressed in the tackiest christmas sweaters that they could find. We had a white elephant gift exchange and lots of food/dancing and a tacky sweater contest (I was one of the winners:P). The top 4 finalists had to do the cat walk down the long hallway and were judged by applause from the rest of the group, it was very entertaining. I also learned that my huge blue/green/white zig-zag, crazy designs sweater and leggings outfit would be considered “high fashion” in Europe, just add heels and a belt! I know where to go so I won’t waste that outfit!

After the Tacky Sweater Party the tacky sweater group attended Breakfast and Bingo in the Maybee Dinning Center, a CAB (campus board of activities) hosted event. Who would of thought college kids could get so into bingo? There were a bunch of prizes given away and a lot of winners, ironically almost ALL the winners were part of the tacky sweater group!

As bingo ended my tacky sweater group and I decided the night was still young and we were not ready for it to end; so we went to 3rd floor Beata and played dodgeball! We had probably 200 of those really light colorful balls, you know the ones you jump into at places like Chucky Cheese when you were little? We moved furniture around and had forts and played till 4am!

Today we all woke up really sore but not tired because it is READING DAY and there are no classes!

The recent championship game of UNC and Michigan State was a great headliner where the underdog and “blue collared” team was facing a powerhouse #1 seed. The results was anything but headline material. UNC for the majority of the game kept a 10-point lead from Michigan State. From a sports fan perspective this game was less than exciting. Maybe its because last year was picture perfect from a KU fan’s view? Or maybe simply because KU was not in the championship game? But one thing I can not complain about is the delicious and always nutritious Buffalo Wild Wings which were served during the game. CAB and residence life came through again, unlike Michigan State. I just hope that next year I will be wearing blue and red and chanting ‘Rockkkkk Chalkkkkkkkk‘.
